Volunteer Driver
Provide rides in your own vehicle to older adults who need rides to medical appointments, stores, the bank, and more. Volunteers use their own vehicle. The schedule, amount of time, and distance for driving is flexible – you decide on your level of commitment!
Be a Volunteer Driver. It is more than just a ride, it is a relationship. Having a friendly conversation during the ride not only uplifts the rider, it is very gratifying to the driver. You may be one of the few individuals that person talks to all week. They may be going through a scary diagnosis or be anxious to go to the appointment. By providing them a much needed ride, you are helping them to get to where they need to go while filling their cup with connection.
Dependable and affordable rides can be challenging to come by, and older adults may not have someone in their life to drive them. Not knowing how they will get to their appointment can cause much anxiety. For as little as two hours a month, you can help them remain independent, feeling relieved and confident in knowing a friendly face will be there to greet them.
